Alternativesthe metrics-catalogue model

Collaborator Alternatives

The metrics-catalogue model explained: what it does well, where third-party authority estimates break down, and how LinkersPro handles provenance instead. No claims about Collaborator's inventory or pricing.

Direct answer

Collaborator is a well-known example of the metrics-catalogue model: a searchable list of publications where each entry carries authority, traffic and quality metrics pulled from third-party SEO tools so a buyer can filter before enquiring. The model's real contribution is making evaluation possible at scale instead of one enquiry at a time. Its structural limit is provenance: most of those metrics are third-party estimates, and a metric shown without its source and capture date is a number rather than evidence. LinkersPro's answer is to label every metric with where it came from and when.

What this page claims about Collaborator

Collaborator's own site describes it as a marketplace for publications with a catalogue of sites, and its blog announces an official Ahrefs integration bringing Ahrefs metrics into the catalogue alongside data from other SEO tools. That integration is a genuinely useful thing to have built, and we will say so. Beyond what the company states about itself, this page describes the model in general and describes LinkersPro. We publish no figures about Collaborator's catalogue or pricing.

Source: collaborator.pro — Ahrefs integration announcement

We do not publish another company's prices, inventory counts or internal policies. Those change, we cannot verify them, and a wrong number about a named business is not a marketing risk worth taking. Collaborator is not affiliated with LinkersPro and has not reviewed this page.

The model

How the metrics-catalogue model works.

A description of the way of buying, not of any one company that offers it. Models can be described fairly from the outside; companies mostly cannot.

Filtering replaces enquiring

The point of a metrics catalogue is that you can narrow thousands of publications to a shortlist before speaking to anyone. Compared with outreach, that is an enormous efficiency gain and it is the reason this model has taken over the category.

Most of the metrics are estimates

Domain authority scores, organic traffic figures and keyword counts from third-party SEO tools are modelled estimates, not measurements. They are useful and they are not the same kind of fact as a click count from the publisher's own Search Console.

Link-graph metrics are weakest on link sellers

An authority score derived from a site's backlink profile is exactly the number a site in the business of links has the means and the motive to influence. It is least reliable on the population it is most often used to screen.

The catalogue tells you about the site, not the placement

Everything in a catalogue row describes the domain. Nothing in it describes what happened to your link after it was placed on one page of that domain, which is a different question and the one that decides whether the purchase worked.

When it fits

When the metrics-catalogue model is the right choice.

Including over us. A comparison page that finds no case for the alternative is an advertisement wearing a comparison's clothes.

  • You are building a shortlist at scale and want to filter on many parameters at once.
  • Your team already treats third-party metrics as directional and does its own verification.
  • You need coverage across many languages and markets in one search interface.

What we do

What LinkersPro does instead.

Every metric carries its source and its capture date

Not in a tooltip — inline, in the text next to the number. If a figure is 40 days old the page says so, and it says so in amber. A metric without provenance is treated here as a defect rather than a rough edge.

Verified traffic and estimated traffic are different words

Where a publisher has connected Google Search Console, click figures are labelled Google-verified. Where they have not, the figure is labelled an estimate. We do not average the two into one number, because the average would be neither.

The catalogue is not the deliverable

Filtering gets you to a shortlist. What you actually buy is a placement, and the placement comes with a record of four checks against the live page rather than four attributes of the domain.

Indexation is asked, not inferred

We query Google's URL Inspection API for the placement URL. Scraped search results are not evidence, and we will not present them as such even though it would be cheaper.

Due diligence

Five questions worth asking any link marketplace.

Including this one. Each row states our own answer so you have something concrete to hold us to, and something to put to whoever else you are evaluating.

AskWhat LinkersPro answers
Where did this traffic figure come from and when?It says so on the listing: the source and the capture date, in text, next to the number.
Is this figure measured or modelled?Verified figures come from the publisher's connected Search Console. Everything else is labelled an estimate.
Does the authority score include links the site sold?Any third-party link-graph score does, and we cannot fix that. What we can do is show it beside a measured figure rather than instead of one.
What is checked on the page I bought, rather than the domain?Live, indexed, link attribute, and anchor plus destination — all against the placement URL.
How stale can a metric be before I am warned? The listing shows the age, and past the staleness threshold it changes colour rather than staying quiet.

What gets checked

Four checks, and a receipt for each one.

A placement is not finished when it publishes. It is finished when a machine has confirmed all four of these and written down what it saw.

Live

The placement URL resolves and the link is present in the page a crawler receives, not only in the one a browser renders.

Indexed

Google's URL Inspection API is asked directly whether the page is in the index. A search result someone scraped is not evidence and is not accepted here.

Attribute

The link carries the attribute the listing sold — dofollow, sponsored or nofollow. A later change is a monitoring failure, not a detail.

Anchor and target

The anchor text and the destination URL match what the order froze at purchase, character for character.

FAQ

Collaborator alternatives — common questions.

Are third-party SEO metrics useless then?

No, and it would be a silly thing to argue on a site that shows them. They are directional and they are cheap, which is a real combination. The mistake is treating a modelled estimate as though it were a measurement, and the fix is to label it, date it, and put it next to something that was measured.

Why not just show one combined quality score?

Because a single number that blends a measured click count with a modelled authority estimate hides which half is which, and a buyer cannot audit it. We would rather show two numbers a buyer can interrogate than one they have to trust.

Does LinkersPro have a comparable catalogue?

We are early, and we are not going to describe our catalogue as comparable to anyone's. Search the marketplace and see what is there; if it is empty for your niche today, it will say so rather than showing you something adjacent.

Compare the receipts, not the catalogues.

Search the marketplace, brief the publisher, and let the payment sit until a crawler confirms the link is live, indexed, carrying the attribute you paid for and pointing where you said.
